Building your own Private Blog Network – What is a PBN?

Have you ever wondered how some people seem to be able to get a high post ranking in a short amount of time?

Perhaps you’re even a bit envious.

Believe me, I was too before I found out exactly how they accomplish this seemingly impossible task.

These days it’s called “Private Blogging Network” or PBN for short.

And before you rack your brain trying to figure out what the heck that is, let me break it down for you into three simple terms: Private, Blogging and Network.

Here’s everything you need to know about building your own private blog network so that you can also rank ’em high!

What is a PBN?

A private blog network (or PBN for short) is a collection of websites created and managed by the same person.

They usually contain articles that link back to your site’s main URL, or homepage and they should not be used for anything other than helping you achieve higher page rankings.

The reason for this is because search engines such as Google can easily identify these types of links and will penalize your website accordingly.

What is a PBN?

A PBN is a network of blogs that are all owned by the same person
They can be used to rank your websites higher in search engine rankings
Private blog networks have been around for a long time and they work well for those who know what they’re doing
There are many different types of private blog networks, including ones with very high domain authority
If you want to use a private blog network, make sure it’s from someone reputable as there are lots of scammers out there!
You should always do research before buying any type of service or product to avoid getting ripped off!

Why you should use PBN

Why Use A PBN?

There are many reasons why people opt to use a PBN in SEO rather than other traditional SEO tactics, but the truth is that there is only one real reason: it works.

People use PBN’s to bypass all of the old tactics that no longer work, such as link directories and blog comments.

There are many different reasons why they use them, but it can be boiled down to just one point: they provide excellent results.

You may be thinking right now…

“But… I’ve used blog comments and directory links before and wasn’t able to beat my competitors!”

Yes, you’re right.

You probably did try using those cheap spammy auto-generated blog comments and/or directory links in the past and didn’t get anywhere, which is why you’re looking into a Private Blog Network for help.

RankerX is bad for business

Let me ask you this: if something isn’t working for you, then do you keep doing it?

Obviously not.

You try something else… and if that doesn’t work, you try something else again!

And so on, until you find the method that works best for you.

That’s exactly what a PBN is all about – finding something that works for your website without having to do the old tactics that are no longer effective.

Some people may argue against using a PBN because they claim Google has gotten too smart for them, but this simply isn’t true.

Results exclusively from the PBN links I've used

As long as you follow these four simple rules when setting up your Private Blog Network, there will be little to no chance of getting it penalized.

Rule #1: NEVER use Exact Match Domains (EMD)

When you’re setting up your PBN, don’t purchase any EMDs (exact match domains).

If you do, chances are you will be penalized and de-indexed by Google.

The reason for this is because they already know the phrase that’s on the EMD and might not value it as highly as a site without one.

NEVER use Exact Match Domains (EMD)

The reason why people usually prefer using an EMD is that it has a higher chance of ranking faster than most other sites.

This is all fine and dandy if you’re just starting out, but after time it can work against you.

You have to remember that Google changes its algorithm from time to time, so what used to work for you in the past may no longer be as effective.

Rule #2: Don’t have too many links from the same site

Just like with EMDs, Google knows when there are unnatural links pointing back on one of your websites.

Don't have too many links from the same site

This is why it’s always best to link out on each post you publish to other authority sites within your niche (use the first part of this guide on how to choose these).

Is PBN safe for SEO?

PBNs can be a safe haven for SEO. They offer the opportunity to rank higher and stay out of trouble with Google’s algorithm updates, but they also come at some risk since there are so many sites hosted on one network which makes monitoring them more difficult than if you were using multiple networks or independent hosting locations.

If too many of your own sites are linking back to each other, then that can also cause problems down the road.

So make sure you group them together and only link out once per day, per week, or even per month… whatever works best for you.

You have to remember, it’s 2022 year! The sooner you realize that this is no longer 2005 and that all those old strategies through which all of us who have been here for at least a decade have earned a lot of money, they do not work anymore, simple as 1 + 1= 2!

Don't place too many links on your homepage

Rule #3: Don’t place too many links on your homepage

This is one of the most common mistakes that even experienced SEOs make and it’s simply because they forget to remove some links when they add new ones.

Sometimes, people also like to hide their PBN sites in a separate folder or directory, but this can still cause major problems for you in the future.

So always remember to check your sitemap and remove any old websites from there before adding new ones!

Whenever you see someone offering high authority backlinks with private registration included for free, chances are they have created these themselves… which means all of those additional backlinks will be coming from one domain.

High Quality Backlinks For Your Website

This is why I recommend sticking to only one website throughout the entire process because you never know what it can end up doing to your PBN site(s) down the road.

Rule #4: Don’t let anyone else link to your PBN sites

If you’re going to create a Private Blog Network for yourself, then make sure you keep it that way!

Yes, this means no guest blogging or allowing other people on popular forums or websites within your niche to link back to your PBN sites.

The best thing you can do is get involved with these communities and start building some high-quality links of your own before asking others if they want a link on your site.

It’s also important to remember that no matter how difficult it may be, you should never let another website link out to your PBN sites.

You might think this is a great idea because you can get additional backlinks from these domains, but the risk of having too many links pointing to one domain is just not worth it!

The best thing for you to do instead simply drop the anchor text and then redirect that URL with a 301.

Benefits for having your own private blog network

This means that if someone does end up linking out to one of your PBN sites in the future, it will come through as a normal link and won’t affect anything down the road.

Now we’re ready to

How Do I Build My Own PBN Sites?

When it comes to your Private Blog Network, you want to be sure that each individual site is highly targeted and highly relevant.

This is why I recommend starting with three sites in total since these are easy enough for even beginners to do on their own within a few days or less!

Step #1: Find the right topic(s)

The first thing you should be thinking about when creating your PBN sites is what niche/topics they will be covering.

Now, this isn’t always necessary if you’re just trying to build links because there’s no harm in creating generic websites

But if you want to make money from these, then it’s always best to go after something other people aren’t using.

The best way to do this is by finding sites that are already ranking for competitive keywords, then checking the top results to see what kind of content they’re putting out.

This is why you should always check if there are any blog posts on these pages linking back to other authority websites in your niche or not.

If so, then chances are they have beaten you to the punch and have already taken over the niche!

So try going after something different instead…

But don’t be afraid of your site being too specific either because you can still turn it into an authority website later on down the road.

Remember that just because a topic has been targeted doesn’t mean that everyone has given up on it yet.

Private Blog Network Link Building Benefits

The benefits of a private blog network are that you can build links without worrying about them showing up on an open or publicly accessible website. These streams allow for more obscurity when building backlinks which means they will rank better than those from other sources since Google looks at how many sites point to them as well as the quality and quantity in relation to those anchor text phrases used by these referrers – all factors combined contribute towards higher rankings!

Step #2: Buy your domains

The first thing you will need to do is purchase the domain names you want to use for each of your sites.

To speed things up, I recommend checking out Namecheap because they have everything set up so it’s easy enough for beginners to understand and won’t cost you an arm and a leg either…

I have been personally cooperating with them for a decade and I have to say, they are one of the best in the business.

Every problem I had they solved, they have one of the best Live Chat teams in the world, so whenever you have a problem feel free to contact them, they work 24/7.

But there are other options available too if you would like.

Now if you really want to save some time when finding good domain names that haven’t been registered yet, then just head on over to Google’s domain search by typing in site:.com followed by whatever topic you are interested in.

Buying domains tips

This will allow you to see which domain names have already been registered and then you can simply pick the one that looks best for your PBN site.

More on this later!

Step #3: Buy hosting

The next thing you should be doing is finding a good web host for each of your PBN sites because these are going to be used as money-making tools down the road.

As for what options are available, I recommend checking out either Bluehost or SiteGround because they work well with beginners…

Tips for buying a web host

But there are other options available too if you want.

Once again, the same rules apply when it comes to buying hosting services as they did with domains…

Make sure you are choosing someone that’s reliable, has fast server speeds and offers enough storage space for your PBN sites.

Step #4: Create the sites

The next thing you will need to do is create each of your new PBN sites with WordPress.

This is the core software they run on which makes it very easy for beginners to learn how it works

But there are other options available too if you want.

Now, something I recommend doing on all your new PBN sites is adding a small about me page along with an opt-in form somewhere in the sidebar or footer.

This way after people start linking out to these pages naturally down the road, then you can keep them coming back since chances are they haven’t heard of you before and will want to find out more.

About Us Page Tips

Now, as far as how big or small each site should be…

Well as a general rule, anything over 5-6 pages is usually enough for beginners because it gives them a chance to link back from their money pages without having to go overboard

But if you have the time & patience, then why not try going after some even bigger niches?

Step #5: Build links

Now that your sites are all set up and ready to go, then you will need to start building the links that they will be using to rank over time.

I recommend checking out this list of 50 SEO tools that can help you build backlinks in order to speed things up

There are other options available too if you don’t want them.

Now when it comes to how many high-quality do-follow links you should try and get each PBN site ranked for, then think about this…

Link Building Tips for 2022

Look at your money sites or whatever niches were used previously.

Chances are these guys have been working hard on growing their link profiles so why not take advantage of all this hard work?

Of course, if any link building methods are against Google’s webmaster guidelines, then I would avoid them like the plague.

Step #6: Monetize

Now for the fun part…

Once your PBN sites are all ready to go and they start getting some decent amounts of traffic, then it’s time to make things work for you by using Adsense on the pages or whatever other ad types might work well (more info can be found here).

Monetize PBN

However you decide to monetize your money sites is totally up to you, but just keep in mind that anything over $500 per month will most likely get Google’s attention so don’t go too crazy.

Plus I would avoid any aggressive advertising methods because if someone happens to link out to an affiliate offer that goes bad down the road, then this could look extremely spammy.

Sidenote:

You might notice that I didn’t include any PPC options here because there are just too many spammy factors involved for me to even consider recommending them, but feel free to test things out for yourself if you’re interested.

Step #7: Rinse & Repeat

Once you’ve got some decent money sites set up and they start making good money for you, then the only thing left to do is rinse & repeat this process over again by adding a few more relevant keywords into each of your PBN sites and getting a few new links each month to keep them growing.

Plus just remember that not all of your backlinks have to be do-follow either because even though these will give you less of a chance to rank, you will sometimes find that they can still be very effective.

Conclusion…

In conclusion after going through all of the steps I’ve laid out for you above, then by now, your new blog network should be up and running and ready to start bringing in money each month for years on end if done right.

Remember that once you have about 20-25 sites with good backlink profiles & decent traffic, then just rinse & repeat this process over again by adding a few more relevant niches into each of your PBN sites and linking them together plus making sure not to use any aggressive advertising methods because these could eventually trigger some spam filters down the road.

In closing if you have any questions about how to build a PBN or if you have any general confusion about which path to take, then let me know because I will try my best to help!
